An explosion has destroyed “The Joinery” bar under the viaduct and damaged the tram tracks above the bar. The tram driver attempts to stop the tram but it is too late.
In 1995 Derek Wilton was the proud owner of two garden gnomes, Arthur and Guinevere, but was mystified when Arthur went missing and sent him postcards from his travels.
Derek was then sent a severed gnome's ear along with a ransom note for fifty chocolate coins. He lay in wait for the culprit but was arrested by the police on suspicion of being a peeping Tom.
Blanche Hunt was one of Coronation Street's iconic characters. She was an old battle-axe who rarely had a kind word to say to, or about, anybody. Yet she became one of the most loved characters on the show.
One of Blanche's most memorable quotes has been immortalized on this 50th Anniversary commemorative mug:
"Good looks are a curse Deirdre. You and Kenneth should count yourselves lucky."
Corrie fans everywhere are buying this mug, and other Corrie famous quote mugs, to forever remember the Corrie characters who have touched our hearts over the decades.

OMG!!! That is totally horrific and realistic..I guess I shouldn’t have expected less of my favourite show…I suspect that I just witnessed the end of one or two characters…heartrending but par for the course …the Street goes on..I can hardly wait to see how this is lead up to over the next 9 months in Canada.I will be watching with anticipation…lots more to come so I wouldn’t want to spoil it for myself…
