Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping

Yes, you can! However, please keep in mind that we can only add on to your order if you contact us before your order is packaged. We prepare your order for shipment very quickly, so please contact us as soon as possible if you would like to make an add-on.

Unfortunately we currently do not ship any fresh baked or frozen products. However if you are in the area, you can order for pick up!

Yes, we can ship to PO boxes within Canada! For our US customers, unfortunately we cannot currently ship to PO boxes, sorry.

All orders being sent to PO boxes will be sent through Canada Post, which may possibly be slower than our regular couriers.

We provide you with an estimated delivery date range at the checkout before payment.

Here are the average transit times when sent via Standard Shipping:

Ontario and Quebec: 1 to 4 business days
PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick: 2 to 5 business days
Newfoundland: 3 to 8 business days
Manitoba: 2 to 5 business days
Saskatchewan and Alberta: 2 to 6 business days
British Columbia: 2 to 7 business days
Territories: 5 to 10 business days
United States (lower 48): 2 to 6 business days (customs delays may occur)

PO boxes may take slightly longer, due to Canada Post's service.

Shipping is free on orders over $99 CAD - excludes NU, NT and YT (sorry - the territories are extremely expensive to ship to).

For orders under $99 CAD, we charge a flat rate of $10 within Ontario, $15 within Quebec and $20 across Canada and the USA.

*Some exclusions may apply. If you live in a remote, rural, or otherwise not easily accessible location, we may have to ask you for an additional amount to be able to send your order. We try to absorb as much of the cost as we can, however sometimes the shipping costs are too exorbitant depending on your location and the size of box required.

We take great care and pride in packing your orders, ensuring to use plenty of cushioning material to prevent damage to products. We pack your goodies nice and snug to ensure a safe journey to your door. In addition to safely securing your goodies inside the box, we always put fragile stickers on the outside of the parcel.

In the unfortunate event of accidental damage during transit, we request that you take pictures of the damaged item or items and send them to us (email: order@blightys.com) for review.

Your order will be dispatched in enough time to be delivered within the estimated delivery dates you selected at the checkout.

We'll send you a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information once it ships.

We ship across Canada and the contiguous United States.

We take several precautions during the summer to help prevent your precious chocolate from melting:

  • We add ice packs when possible, along with an insulated envelope (free of charge). Applies to Canada only (US customs tend to inspect the parcels with ice packs - which adds to the transit time, rendering the ice packs pointless).
  • We do not ship large amounts of chocolate on Fridays - to prevent your parcel from sitting in a hot truck all weekend.
  • We may wait for cooler weather if we are especially concerned. In this case, we will contact you to let you know.

Even with these precautions, there is still a possibility of chocolate melting during hot weather. Ultimately, it is out of our control, and chocolate is shipped at your own risk during hot weather.

In very rare situations during extreme heat, chocolate may arrive soft. We recommend putting it in the fridge to help it return to it's original form. As we do as much as we can to prevent this from happening, the chocolate is ultimately shipped at your own risk during the summer months.

It is rare, but definitely possible during the coldest months! Unfortunately we cannot control Canada's chilly climate, and your order may be subject to freezing temperatures during transit. If any item in your order arrives frozen or has been damaged due to freezing temperatures (e.g. pop cans ripping open or bulging areas), we accept no responsibility. All liquids and any items that can be damaged by freezing temperatures are shipped at your own risk. We have no control over Canada's cold temperatures. Thank you for understanding.

Products

No, some products on our website are exclusive to our website, and are not available in our physical store. This may also apply to product inventory levels in some instances.

If you are planning a visit to our in-store location for a specific item, we highly recommend placing an online order for pickup, or calling us ahead of time to make sure our in-store location has the product you are looking for.

99% of our products are imported from the UK. The other 1% includes products that are very popular within the UK, but may originate from another country.

We will try our best! If we are able to locate a source for the product and the product meets legal import requirements, we will likely be able to order it for you (meat products from the UK are heavily restricted and regulated - especially anything containing beef, which is prohibited). Please contact us (email: order@blightys.com).

Most products, with some exceptions, have a best before date of 2+ months. We do our best to openly display all best before dates of products on our website which are within 4 weeks of their date.

The applicable best before dates are displayed on collection pages, product pages, in your cart and even at the checkout. Our inventory management team is stringent with their date checks, and are excellent at making sure all applicable best before dates are displayed on the applicable products.

Products that do not have a displayed best before date can be expected to have a shelf life of more than 4 weeks. If you have a certain requirement for best before dates, please contact us regarding the specific items you would like to order so we can advise the current dates we have in stock.

Best before dates are the recommended date to consume the product to ensure the freshest quality by the manufacturer. This means they can be eaten at your own discretion and risk afterwards, however the quality of the product and nutritional values are not guaranteed.

Expiry dates mean that the product should not be consumed past that date, as it is a possible health hazard. Read more on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website here: More Information

You may notice that while the UK has many unique products, a lot of their famous brands also produce the same products in North America. The difference is in the recipes and ingredients, resulting in different taste and quality.

The ingredients for products made in the UK are typically sourced from UK farms. As we all know, what we may think of as a standard crop or animal that can be grown or raised around the world, may grow and thrive differently depending on environmental factors. Dairy will taste different depending on the cows diet and lifestyle, while crops can taste different depending on soil composition, air quality and nutrition.

These factors influence the taste of the product, thus producing a strong or noticeable difference in taste and quality.

If you add your favourite products to your wishlist, you will be notified when they are back in stock, low in stock or on sale.

To add a product to your wishlist, please sign into your account, and you can click the little blue hearts or the "Add to wishlist" button located on your favourite products.
