In 1882, the original "Smarties" were released in the UK. Upon launch, they were released as "Chocolate Dragée", only to be renamed shortly after that to "Chocolate Beans". After multiple name changes, the name still didn't feel right. Then in 1937, they were finally renamed to what we all know and love today, Smarties.
