Originally launched in the UK in 1882, Smarties were previously known by other names before being renamed to Smarties. Upon first release, Britain knew them as "Chocolate Dragée", and shortly after they were renamed to "Chocolate Beans". After lots of consideration, they were renamed in 1937 to the name everyone knows today, Smarties.
